Signs Up PanGlobal Insurance For Repair
Tracker

KUALA LUMPUR
-- PAC Total Solutions Sdn Bhd (PTS), a
Malaysia's automotive solutions provider,
has clinched a deal to supply its Repair
Tracker software to one of the country's
major motor insurance players, PanGlobal
Insurance Berhad (PGI).
The company said in a statement that Repair
Tracker, a homegrown product, measures cycle
time, or the time taken to complete a job
via BodyNet, a bodyshop management system
that produces estimates, automatically produces
job cards and invoices.
"PGI is the first general insurance
company in Malaysia to implement this online
motor repair tracking system to its panel
of more than 300 motor vehicle repairers.
In addition to the SMS car insurance price
checking, online purchase of car insurance
and interactive lifestyle rewards portal,
Repair Tracker augments our strategy of
providing value-added services to all policyholders
by adopting cutting edge technology,"
said Edwin Wong, chief executive officer,
PGI.
The Repair Tracker system's monitoring
function will allow PGI (www.pgi.com.my)
to keep tabs on their repairers' work
by monitoring repair cycle times of their
policy holders' vehicles. It will
also track the number of vehicles being
repaired at any one time, and the value
of the estimates given by the repairers
together with an up-to-date list of replaced
parts.
Meanwhile, bodyshop staff can use Repair
Tracker to improve their customer service
by increasing the transparency of the repair
process, ensuring that customers know the
exact status of the repairs being carried
out on their respective vehicles.
According to PTS'
managing director Steve Miller, Repair Tracker
(www.repairtracker.com.my) allows bodyshop
managers to operate in a more efficient
and cost effective manner.
"They can monitor their cycle times
and correctly judge the time taken to repair
each vehicle, which will then enable PGI
to provide an actual completion date to
its customers as value- added customer service,"
he said.
PAC Total Solutions's Repair Tracker
is a boon to all parties concerned with
motor insurance - the customer, technical
service staff and the insurance company.
Vehicle owners can keep track of the repair
process online and in real time, and be
aware of exactly when their cars will be
ready for collection.
"Local motor repairers have been
improving their standards steadily over
the past three years and now together with
the foresight of PGI, we are confident of
further raising the standards of repairers
through the use of IT," Miller added.
Under the terms of the arrangement with
PGI, repairers who sign up will be offered
the BodyNet system to operate their bodyshop.
Stages of each repair job are recorded and
provided to PGI for analysis, allowing payments
for repairers to be expedited more efficiently,
and decreasing bottlenecks.
Repair Tracker has already been launched
in the United Kingdom through PTS'
partner, Bodynet UK Ltd. PTS,
a venture company of HeiTech Padu Berhad
(www.heitech.com.my), introduced Malaysia's
first electronic motor vehicle repair claims
solution in 1998.
Now used by more than 300 vehicle repairers
locally and 600 worldwide, plus insurers
and loss adjusting companies, these software
applications are PAC Total Solutions'
efforts at assisting the local automotive
and insurance claims industry to raise their
service benchmark, improve safety and increase
efficiency.
